During operation, a hot die is exposed to severe load conditions, which means high strain (the level whereof sometimes reaches the steel yield point), high heating temperatures as well as impact of chemicals on the materials being deformed. That is why, for hot dies manufacture we use steel grades 5HNM and 5HGM, which allows us to achieve high impact strength and hardening characteristics. When selecting steel for a die, one should consider its future operating conditions, the strain rate, the limit heating-up temperature, and strain stability of the deformed material.
The weight of hot forging dies produced is up to 6 tons.
Hot die forging is a process, during which the metal of the workpiece alters significantly and assumes the form of the specially designed die. Today, forging is implemented within the range of temperatures, suitable for luting removal.
